NBCWashington.com

NBCWashington.com is recruiting students for our college internship program.

Our paid internships provide a professional learning experience for students with already-strong writing skills who are looking to cultivate skills in a variety of areas.

Interns will write news and local entertainment articles, cut videos, create photo galleries and provide support to the web team. Interns will receive assignments but will also be expected to find or cultivate their own stories and ideas.

Opportunities to shoot and edit your own videos, and to periodically shadow reporters and producers on the broadcast team, are available.

Interns may also receive college credit if their academic programs permit it.

APPLICANTS MUST:

  • Be rising juniors, seniors or graduate students. We cannot accept recent graduates; youmust be enrolled in a degree program.

IDEAL APPLICANTS SHOULD:

    • Be pursuing a degree in journalism or a related field. While a major in journalism is preferred, it is not required. We’re also interested in speaking with students who demonstrate the required experience/skills while pursuing other majors.

  • Have well-rounded experiences that could — but don’t necessarily need to — include previous journalism internships. However, applicants should have experience working for campus media, maintaining their own blogs or the like if they are lacking professional experience.

Internships are available throughout the year as follows:

SUMMER:

20-32 hours per week. Summer interns should plan to work at least through the week ending Aug. 8, 2014 (with time off for summer holidays, and travel as needed). We are now accepting applications for the Summer 2014 internship.

Two positions are available each for fall and spring semesters. Shifts are Mon./Wed./Fri. noon-5 p.m. (15 hours/week) or Tues./Thurs. noon-5 p.m. (10 hours/week).
